  • If you are unable to keep an appointment or will be late for the appointment, please telephone us on 97163522 as soon as possible and we will be happy to re-schedule this for you. 24 hours notice is required for cancellation of appointments; otherwise a cancellation fee of $50.00 may apply.
  • We ask that all our patients endeavour to arrive to their appointment on time, however we ask for your understanding if the Doctor is running late as we assess all our patients individually and on occasions this may take more time.
  • Patients wishing to schedule surgery will be provided with an Estimate of Fees and will be required to provide a $50.00 deposit to secure their booking. The deposit will be deducted from the surgery fee unless surgery is cancelled by the patient whereby the deposit will then be forfeited.

Commitment To Follow Up Care

The Sydney Institute for Obesity Surgery (SIOS) is a multidisciplinary Clinic specialising in the surgical management of obesity using the gastric band system. Here at SIOS we are dedicated to providing ongoing support and education to our patients to ensure the best possible outcome. Our team of Specialist Bariatric Surgeons and GPs, Psychologists, Dietitians and Nurse that have many years of experience in the treatment and management of obesity.

Patients are asked to return for regular follow up here at SIOS, where we can monitor your progress and weight goals. Unfortunately, if you choose to visit another Doctor or Clinic for your continued follow up care, we cannot be responsible for band failures and complications. While we cannot prohibit this practice, we would like to reiterate the importance of returning to SIOS and the commitment that you have made to attend our Clinic, together with the commitment we have made to you, to provide you with high level aftercare.

In certain circumstances, such as relocation, it may be necessary for you to change Doctors or Clinics and we can therefore recommend a network of Health Professionals throughout Australia and Internationally to ensure that you continue to receive the high level of aftercare.

If you are thinking about changing Doctors or Clinics during the course of your aftercare, please make your decision carefully and talk to us about your concerns.

Private Health Fund Cover For SIOS Patients

While SIOS is happy to perform surgery on self funded patients, we strongly advise that you join a health fund following surgery as a precaution, in the event of revisional surgery being required. If a self funded patient requires re-operation, it will be necessary to charge you a Hospital and Doctor’s fee, which will be beyond our control.

Therefore, it is important that you maintain appropriate private health fund cover for Item No. 30511 for the life of your band, so please check your Fund regularly to ensure that you are covered.

We appreciate your understanding in following our protocol, which we feel will ensure the best possible outcome for our patients.
